SimpleTesterLite™
SimpleTesterLite provides the core syntax testing functionality of the
popular SimpleTester
product to automatically exercise all types of SNMP
agents (standalone, proxies, and sub-agents) which implement one or more
standard, experimental, or private MIBs.
SimpleTesterLite tests an SNMP agent for MIB compliance and protocol
compliance for any MIB by sending hundreds of different Get/GetNext/Set/GetBulk
requests and analyzing the response for each and every MIB object supported
by the agent. With each test result, reference is given to the RFC which
specifies the behavior being tested, and additionally, provides tips to
diagnose and fix the cause of the error. This ensures that an agent will
interoperate with common network management platforms, such as HP OpenView
or Micromuse Netcool.
SimpleTesterLite is ideal for testing new SNMP agents whose MIB is not
too large or complicated, but has enough MIB objects to make testing by
hand with a MIB browser, a tedious, incomplete, and inconsistent task.
The SimpleTesterLite is for test engineers who do not need all the
SimpleTester capabilities such as extending the tests through Tcl
based scripting, or carrying out specific semantic validation tests.
Product Family
SimpleSoft provides a whole family of SNMP Agent testers to ensure that
as your agent complexity and testing requirements grow, SimpleTester
solutions grow with it. The smooth upgrade path also minimizes the need
for retraining and learning a new and different test tools.
As your test
environment grows, individual testers familiar with
SimpleTesterLite will
find it straight-forward to migrate to the SimpleTester and carry out
additional semantic and user-defined testing. The
SimpleTesterPro
has the added capability of creating and cleaning up MIB files and also includes vulnerability test suites for SNMPv1, SNMPv2C, and SNMPv3 agents.
Test departments with many test engineers can migrate to the
SimpleTester for Workgroups
to carry out SNMP testing, using a server-based solution.
